Kit Configurations​

     For your convenience, we offer numerous configurations to suit your circumstances.  For example, many kit builders have already purchased items that are part of the kit.  You might already have the plans or manual because you wanted to preview the process before getting a kit.  You WILL need the most-recent plans and manual on hand to build any CLC kit---we make frequent updates to both instructional material and physical kit parts.  Here are some of the configurations that you'll find:

• Complete Kit:  This is the whole banana, and 95% of kit builders will want this configuration.  Click “view contents” to see exactly what you’re getting, and read this FAQ to answer even more questions about what you’re getting.
   

• Complete Kit w/o Manual:  For builders who purchased the current edition of the manual in advance.  (If your manual is more than a few years old, better check with us to make sure that manual is still current.)
   

• Complete Kit w/o Plans & Manual:  For builders who already have the entire plans package.  Kits with plans-manual combinations require ALL of the information in both plans & manual for successful assembly.
   

• Wood Parts Kit Only:  Just what it says:  only the wooden parts.   Includes CNC-cut marine plywood parts and stringers, etc., from our mill shop.  This option makes sense for someone with a supply of marine plywood, fiberglass, and epoxy already on hand.  You probably can’t beat this price building from scratch!
   

• Plans & Manual Only:  For folks who’d prefer to build from scratch.  All the information you’ll need, including materials lists, will be in this package.  Materials lists are online too.

• Manual Only:  CLC instruction manuals walk you through construction step by step with photos and drawings, and are a good way to get acquainted with the process in advance of a kit purchase.  (Manual purchase refundable with kit purchase.)  There is not enough information in the manual to build a boat from scratch---you'll need the complete "Plans & Manual" package for that.

• Materials List for Plans Builders:  Order a la carte from the boat's materials list.

• Supplies List for Kit Builders:  Kit builders will need finishing supplies (paint/varnish), disposables, and a few basic hand tools during kit assembly.  This is not a list of mandatory items; many items fall under "nice-to-have" instead of "must-have."  If you are unsure, shoot us an email or give us a call.
